Facebook Is Down
Tue, 07/31/2007 - 17:58
I swear that Facebook has somehow hacked my Outlook calendar and found every meeting where I am demonstrating a Facebook application because it seems this is the time they like to tinker with the service. Almost every scheduled meeting I have had, something in the Facebook platform breaks 30 minutes beforehand. Today the site starting acting funny around 12:00pm EST and now it looks like the whole site is down, or "upgrading" as it says on their home page.
This is one frustrating downfall of developing for the Facebook platform. I realize that it's still in beta and not the most reliable, but it would be nice if Facebook kept their "upgrades" and changes to the weekend. 1pm EST on a Tuesday is typically when I need the service available. If you have a big presentation coming up where you need to be connected to Facebook, then I highly recommend taking a screencast a day or two beforehand when you know everything is working. This extra work will seem like a pain at first, but it will save a ton of frustration and embarrasment if the platform goes down. If you are looking for a good application to record screencasts try Adobe Captivate 3. CommentsPost new comment |
