Some Facebook Users Experiencing Flash Version Problems
Tue, 02/26/2008 - 17:17
I have been getting a few messages lately from people who are having trouble with Facebook not properly detecting that they have Flash Player 9 installed. It sounds like Facebook has a slight bug in their version detection scheme that only affects a few users. A post on the developer feed a few weeks ago seems to confirm this. Facebook tried patching this bug but the fix caused problems with the <fb:swf> tag so they unapplied the patch. The Facebook Help pages suggest:
If you are experiencing these problems leave a comment below. I will investigate further if there is enough people affected. Comments

I've been struggling with this for a few weeks. I've tried downloading vers. 9.0 from the facebook link several times. I deleted all my adobe stuff and redownloaded and still can't get it to work. Am I the only unlucky one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hope the suns shining wherever you are.

When running from IE it facebook flash vids run fine. When in firefox it never sees flash not matter how many times I've tried reinstalling. I run XP 32 bit by the way. Java is enabled and shockwave flash is in the plugin list. Post new comment |
